The Office Support Specialist Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level secretarial and administrative assistant office and general office clerk positions utillizing 21st century office skills.
Secretaries, administrative assistants, and office clerks perform a variety of clerical and organizational tasks that are necessary to run an organization efficiently. They use computer software to create spreadsheets, compose messages, manage databases, and produce presentations, reports, and documents. They also may negotiate with vendors, buy supplies, manage stockrooms, are involved with event planning, and get data from various sources.
Specific job duties vary by experience, job title, and specialty. Upon graduation students can take the Microsoft Office Certification test. Additional course requirements include financial literacy, job readiness training, and digital literacy skills.
