About This Program

The Natural Hair Styling program prepares students to care for and style textured hair using both traditional and modern techniques. Students learn how to shampoo, arrange, twist, wrap, weave, extend, lock, and braid hair by hand or with mechanical tools.

In addition to hands-on styling, the program covers key topics like safety and health, hair and scalp analysis, anatomy, disorders and diseases, and the chemistry of natural hair care. 

This program celebrates the beauty of natural hair and equips students with the knowledge and training needed to earn their Natural Hair license and succeed in the industry.

Program Description:
Introduction to Natural Hair provides students with the didactic information essential for earning their Natural Hair license.  Students will learn professional requirements, safety and health, anatomy and physiology, hair analysis, hair and scalp disorders and diseases, and the chemistry as applied to natural hair styling.

Program prerequisites: Apply for the Natural Hair Styling License, age requirement: must be 17 years of age, complete a 300-hour approved course of students in natural hair, pass NYS writing and practical exam for natural Hair

Program Description:
Natural Hair course provides students with the knowledge and skills to understand and demonstrate shampoos, rinses, conditioners, and treatments; in addition to, hair braiding, locking, weaving and styling.

Program Prerequisites: Entrance in the Natural Hair Program, and successful completion of Intro to Natural Hair.
