COVID-19 Guidance
I. VACCINE AND BOOSTER POLICY
- All students are strongly encouraged to stay up to date on their initial course of vaccinations and
boosters consistent with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. While vaccines are not required at this time as a condition of enrollment, REOC reserves the authority to change this policy at any time because of changes in local conditions or due to requirements imposed by Federal, State, local authority or participating clinical or internship third- party location. - Students enrolled in any program or course or who are participating in a clinical or internship held at a third-party location must continue to comply with all health and safety guidelines, including any vaccination or testing protocols that are in place at the third-party location.
II. MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING
- REOC will continue to monitor local conditions and determine if mask mandates are required.
REOC may continue to maintain a mask requirement if deemed necessary. - REOC will maintain a clear plan for actions if cases in the community or at REOC begin to increase significantly.
- All students need to follow the masking requirements for activities or instruction delivered at a third-party location.
III. TESTING
- REOC in their discretion, may implement a surveillance testing program of all students,
regardless of vaccination status because of changes in local conditions or due to requirements imposed by Federal, State, local authority or participating clinical or internship third-party location. - REOC will require COVID-19 testing results from students with symptoms of COVID-19 as soon as possible after symptoms begin in order to evaluate the student’s ability to continue uninterrupted instruction. Students can obtain a COVID-19 rapid antigen testing kit from the REOC COVID-19 Testing Team when necessary. If a rapid antigen test is used to determine COVID-19 status, it may be necessary to test serially (repeat test).
IV. QUARANTINE, ISOLATION, MASKING and CONTINUATION of INSTRUCTION for STUDENTS TESTING POSITIVE for COVID-19
- If a student suspects that they may have COVID-19, they should contact the REOC COVID-19
Testing Team at REOCCovidTesting@brockport.edu immediately. If an REOC instructor has been notified by their student that they suspect or have tested positive for COVID-19, the student should be referred directly to the REOC COVID-19 Testing Team. Each student is responsible for working directly with their instructor to discuss and confirm their academic requirements to remain active in class requirements. The REOC COVID-19 Testing Team is not responsible for academic requirements. REOC will advise any student who tests positive for COVID-19 to maintain an appropriate level of isolation space or quarantine in accordance with CDC guidelines and the local health department. Each student situation is unique and will be handled as such with any further requirements necessary for the individual student. - REOC continues to strongly recommend that students stay home if they feel unwell.
V. PIVOT TO REMOTE INSTRUCTION OR ACTIVITY
- REOC will continue to monitor local conditions and will change to a virtual or remote format for
academic instruction, delay the start of the semester, modify spring break, or delay or change the format of commencement activities as necessary.
