General FAQs

What will the Rochester EOC building hours be starting March 20, 2020?

The Rochester EOC building is closed to the public.

  • All internal events, including Graduation Ceremony, student recognition ceremonies and pinning ceremonies have been postponed for the remainder of the academic year.
  • All classes are being provided by means of alternative delivery methods and have been since Monday, March 16, 2020.
  • Faculty and staff are telecommuting and are currently available via email. Email addresses for faculty and staff can be found on the staff directory page.
  • Admissions staff are available via Live Chat from 8:00am-4:00pm Monday–Friday.

Why is Rochester EOC taking these actions?

These actions are being taken at the direction of Governor Cuomo to help reduce
the spread of COVID-19. https://www.governor.ny.gov/.

What are Rochester EOC’s plans after March 15, 2020?

On March 16, 2020, all Rochester EOC face-to-face classes transitioned to alternative delivery formats wherever possible. Faculty have shared their plans for the remainder of the semester. Students with concerns about meeting these expectations due to technological or other considerations should contact their instructor about making other appropriate arrangements.

Is Rochester EOC closed?

The Rochester EOC building is closed to the public.

What if I do not have the proper technology to complete my classwork at an alternate site?

Students with concerns about meeting these expectations due to technological or other considerations should contact their instructor about making other appropriate arrangements.

Is the C.A S.H. Program still providing on-site services at the Rochester EOC?

Unfortunately we are no providing on-site services. The Rochester EOC building is closed to the public.

As a Rochester EOC student, is it important to update my mailing address?

YES. Students are requested to update their mailing address and any other contact information with Rochester EOC (email, telephone, etc.) This information ensures the Rochester EOC has more up-to-date information to contact students for any reason. REOC students can update their information by contacting Kristie Ames, Rochester EOC Registrar, at kames@brockport.edu.

As a Rochester EOC student, am I able to access the building at any time?

The Rochester EOC building is closed to the public.

As a Rochester EOC student, can I scan and send my information to the Admission’s Department?

Students are encouraged to scan and send documentation to the REOC Admission’s department, however, do not send confidential information such as Social Security Number and Driver License number. Information can be scanned and emailed to reocadmissions@brockport.edu.

What if I need to speak to a program counselor?

Counseling questions or inquiries can be addressed through email by contacting Sharon Crews Perkins at sperkins@brockport.edu

What if I have a question regarding TABE testing?

All TABE and TASC testing has been suspended during this time until further notice.

Which employers are hiring now?

Questions Regarding Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC™)

When will I be able to take the next TASC exam if I was scheduled for an exam in April, 2020?
Anyone who was scheduled for an exam in April, 2020 should have been notified of the postponement of the exam. Applications are being accepted for future TASC exams. Those who submit applications will be notified of upcoming exams using their application contact information.


Will my accommodations be honored when I take the TASC™ exam on the next scheduled test date?

Yes. There are specific accommodations exam dates. If you require accommodations, please contact the Rochester EOC Testing Coordinator, Jeffrey Scott at jescott@brockport.edu.


Am I able to take the Readiness Assessment online while I’m waiting for the Rochester EOC to re-open?

No. The Readiness Assessment is a proctored assessment that must be taken with a proctor at the Rochester EOC.

Is there an online study site for the TASC™ exam?
Online resources and information can be found at https://tasctest.com/ or http://www.acces.nysed.gov/hse/practice-taking-tasc-test-computer.

When will TASC™ testing continue and what happens if I’ve already submitted an application for an upcoming TASC exam?
All scheduling and re-scheduling for all exams offered at the Rochester EOC will begin when the building re-opens. Currently, April, 2020 TASC™ exams have been cancelled. Any exams scheduled from May, 2020 through the end of the calendar year are pending at this time. All individuals who submitted an application for an upcoming TASC™ exam have been notified if the exams have been cancelled and/or re-scheduled.

Can I self-register to take the TASC™ exam?
Yes. Applications are being accepted for future TASC™ exams. Instructions on how to self-register can be accessed at the New York State Education department site http://www.acces.nysed.gov/what-hsetasc-test
or the TASC website https://tasctest.com/. Those who submit registrations will be notified of upcoming exams using their application contact information.

How many times per year can I take the TASC™ exam?
An examinee can take the TASC™ up to three times per calendar year and must wait a minimum of 60 days after each exam has been taken. As of April, 2020 there are several months left in the calendar year that should not adversely affect any examinee.

How does the postponement of the Rochester EOC graduation affect the receipt of my HSE certificate and participating in the 2020 graduation?
The Rochester EOC Graduation ceremony is postponed. Anyone meeting all requirements for their individual program of study will receive a Rochester EOC completion certificate. Will the upcoming TEAS test be cancelled due to the building closure?

Can I take the TABE, TASC or TEAS test remotely using phones, zoom or other online applications?
No. Currently all standardized tests must be proctored.
