We operate a Pre-Kindergarten Program. Our student’s ages range from two years to five years of age. We have four classrooms with approximately 14 to 18 children in each classroom. Currently, we have only three classrooms open with a total of 46 children enrolled. We are in operation from September through June, the same as the Rochester City School District.

All meals are prepared and served on the premises. The children are served three meals per day.

Breakfast 9:00 am

Lunch 12:00 pm

Snack 2:00 pm

The cook’s hours would be from approximately 8:00 am until 2:00 pm.

The cook prepares the weekly menus with the help of the Executive Director. The menus must contain meals in accordance with CACFP requirements for nutritional values. A Food Production Record must be completed after every meal is prepared, indicating the ingredients used, amount used, and the number of students served. These records must be maintained daily and in an orderly manner.

The cook is responsible for preparing and cooking all the meals that will be served to the children in our care.

Cook must have a deep understanding of nutrition and food safety standards. They need to know the basics for how to prepare healthy, nutritious meals to meet the needs of young children, ensuring that those meals are properly stored and handled to prevent contamination or illness.

These are some of the responsibilities:

  • Making sure that the children have a healthy lunch, every day that meets their dietary needs.
  • Cleaning after the children eat breakfast, lunch, and snack.
  • Preparing meals based on children’s preferences and diets, ensuring that they are nutritious, balanced, and appealing to children’s tastes.
  • Cooking some meals from scratch using recipes or from prepackaged food items.
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and facilities to ensure a safe environment for the children.
  • Preparing snacks for the children after naptime.
  • Monitoring the children to ensure that they are eating their meals properly.
  • Completing the Food Production Record after each meal and filing it away in an orderly manner.
  • Periodic works are mandatory.

The State has a background check that they must pass to be considered for employment.
